So I need some help with a couple of things.
Firstly- I am planning a crazy hat night for my Awana club. Any ideas on games for kids aged 3-8. Also, food- Im really stuck on hat themed food...
Secondly- my best friend (well, aside from Jack) is getting married. I am going to be her matron of honour. We have no idea what we're doing. I need all your input for the very best/cutest/prettiest wedding/engagement ideas you've seen. Particularly for invitations, food, table dressings etc. C'mon girls- I know you guys are seasoned troopers when it comes to this stuff! You know- all those little ideas you've thought were really cool and you wish (or did) have them at your own wedding.
Btw- this is the dress Im wearing. *gulp*. (I have 10 months to get my body to look like that. Hrmm...sooo not going to happen!).

And it seems Jayde will be wearing this dress in off-white with red sash.

Ideas please?

Beautiful!
Here is the blog I have been stalking for photography inspiration for weddings...

They update many times a day, and have very diverse weddings they showcase... I have found it my favorite wedding idea blog!
No help on the hat thing.... sorry!
Well Crystal beat me too it! You'll get any idea imaginable there!
As far as the games I did a search and this is all I found...
Baghead Relay race:
Provide two brown paper grocery bags folded into large hats.(You could substitute a couple of large hats—sombreros or cowboy hats. Have the children line up in two even lines. They must put on the bag hat, run to the finish line, (marked with chalk on the grass) and then run back to hand the hat off to the next runner. First team to finish running wins.
Pin the Bonnet on the Donkey:
Use a Pin the Tail on the Donkey game poster or draw a donkey’s head on a poster board. Cut bonnets, or ball caps, or Abe Lincoln top hats out of construction paper. The children take turns attempting while blindfolded to get the hat on the donkey’s head.
Musical hats:
This is rather like musical chairs but instead the kids have to use hats. Stand the kids in a circle and in the center on the floor, place a box full of hats – enough for each child minus one. Put on the music and let the kids dance around. As soon as you stop the music, each child has to rush and put on a hat from the box. The child without a hat is out of the game but let them have a small favor to avoid any tears.
Hat Toss:
Split into teams. Each team stands on a starting line several feet away from a giant hat which you have made out of an upturned bucket with a paper rim on it. Several feet in the other direction you have another hat full of small balls, bean bags or water bombs. On the whistle, the kids have to run (one at a time) and grab a ball, run back to their team and then toss the ball into the hat. Set a time limit and the team with the most balls in the hat is the winner.
Hat party food:
The only thing I found was people use party hats and fill them with popcorn or chexmix.
Not sure if these are what you're looking for, but thought I'd let you know just incase they work!
1 frozen pound cake (12 oz.), thawed
10 ice cream cones
1 can (16 oz.) plus 1 cup chocolate frosting
10 chocolate cookies (4 in. each, Archway or similar brand)
3 rolls strawberry fruit leather
10 yellow spice drops
Step 1
Cut the pound cake into pieces that will fit into the cones. Press slightly to make the cake level with the top of the cone. Frost the top of the cones and invert them onto the cookies.
Step 2
Place the cones on a wire rack over a jelly roll pan. Spoon the remaining chocolate frosting into a glass measuring cup. Heat the frosting in the microwave, stirring frequently until pourable, about 15 to 30 seconds. Pour the frosting over the top of each of the cones to cover. You may need to collect the drippings and reheat slightly to cover all of the cones. Let the cones stand for 1 hour or until set.
Step 3
Cut the fruit leather into ten 7-inch lengths. Fold the candy in half lengthwise and wrap around the base of the cone. Trim the spice drop and press it onto the hat as a buckle.
These are a Thanksgiving-themed treat but you could change to whatever color of frosting and let your imagination run wild. I tried to get a picture... They are really cute.
Ooooh, paydirt!
Thanks girls, and keep it coming!
Crystal- great blog. Some really fun ideas!
Shelby! OOH OOH OOH! So happy with you right now. Excellent ideas for all the games. You have really honestly seriously sincerely just made my life so much easier at this present moment.
Heidi- Thats such a cool idea! Questions: pointy or round bottomed cones? Archway 4 inch cookies? We dont have FOUR INCH cookies ove rhere. These I will have to make ;) Fruit leather? Im thinking these will be equivalent to roll-ups? Also, spice drops? No idea. But Im assuming some sort of square lolly. Eeee. VERY COOL! Going to make a trial batch on Saturday. Thank you thank you thank you!
They used the flat bottomed cones in the example that I saw but the pointy ones would work too. I am assuming that the cookies are 4-inch. Around here, spice drops are the equivalent to gum drops. I think they used the little ones. Of course you can use M&M's, red hots, sprinkles, sweet-tarts, etc. to decorate however you want. If you use the the pointy cones they would look like clown hats and could be an array of colors and have all sorts of candy for decorating. You could put licorice vines around the brim. Man, the possibilities are endless. You could even use pink frosting to make girly ones.
This sounds fun! I might have to make some myself! =)
Oh yeah! Fruit leather is the same as roll-ups.
I'll email you a picture of the Thanksgiving themed hats.
