Various things of late…
- We have renters for the CDA house; thank you Lord!
- We are now doing a bible study on Jonah. Hmm. So much more there than I thought.
- We finally succumbed and got a Tom Tom GPS unit. I turn it on all the time now just to see if my daily routes are the fastest according to sat nav :). I love saying ‘sat nav’. It makes me feel technical.
- This weekend we watched Jaydes first sporting tournament. Hmm. She takes to sport like a duck to water. *sigh*. I was so hoping to have little nerds like me. On the plus side, she hit her first home run, which she was very excited about.
- Council clean up time. This means we get to dump all our junk outside the front of the house and the council (or miscellaneous members of the public) will pick it up and carry it away. I love getting rid of stuff and watching how much stuff people take before the council comes.
- I want to throw our couch out on the street. Its behaviour is out of control. It’s basically recliners with a large centre console. I cant remember why we got it since its built for bachelors and not a family! Now the recliners wont de-recline without a big kick. The bolts are falling out of the middle so randomly something will just collapse inside and you will find one side of your bottom perched 3 inches higher than the other side. Its like a jerky carnival ride. Or a really unpleasant surprise if youre a guest. Jack invited some guys over to watch the superbowl and I stared at him in horror…knowing…that inevitably…we would be putting in an insurance claim because our couch killed someone. Unfortunately we cant get a new couch because our budget scowled at me when I mentioned it :S. Its now a stand-off. I spend my days staring at the evil black couch in silent hostility secretly willing it to pack up its bad attitude, faulty bolts and spine-snapping springs and just leave. Or at least ask a really nice modular leather friend to come visit.
- Personification. That’s all. Im an English teacher. I don’t actually like…talk to my furniture. *clears throat*.
- Heat. On Monday night we sweltered in sweat all night. It remained at 30’C (87’F) the entire night. No breeze. No air con. Just a fan swirling the thick, hot, suffocating air around us. I cried. I finally fell asleep though…and 7 minutes later the alarm went off.
- Pomegranates. We have heaps. This is the first season that they haven’t been attacked and demolished by birds. I reckon its because of all the tree lopping we did earlier this year. So now I just have to figure out something cool to do with them. Any suggestions?
- I was looking at bugs in the flower patch with Levi the other day. We flipped up some flowers only to see about 8 thick vines of cherry tomatoes growing like wildfire. Some cheeky bird has obviously spread the seeds there. The cherry tomatoes we actually planted, about 6 metres away, are nicely trussed and well…struggling to produce anything worthwhile. Green thumb I have not, although I think I've figured out a gardening secret. Dont care. Dont waste your energy. Just plant the seeds, forget to water them, dont bother using any fancy fertiliser or gardening techniques. Otherwise...your plants will be barren prima donnas. Play hard to get. Wait...thats advice for something else.
- Is everyone bored yet? Thanks for reading about the mundane in my life. I needed to get that off my wheezy chest before…
OUR HOLIDAY.
Yup, the time has come for us to get on a plane and get outta here. Only for a few days. But ahh..sunny Queensland here we come. Am so looking forward to getting away with Jack & the kids. We’re headed up to the Gold Coast for some scenic drives, theme park action and the best Camembert cheese I’ve ever tasted.
Well, I guess I should go do something productive now. Like neglect the garden.

I've heard pomegranates are really good in fruit salad...but I've never tried it myself.
We were just wondering how you're doing since we hadn't heard from you in so long. Glad to hear you're just busy having fun!
Yeah good to hear from ya!
I had a pomegranate long, long time ago...
Funny, I always felt like fruit like this was grown on the other side of the world....
Knowing you and others doesn't really make Australia feel so "the other side of the world" anymore even though it is!
Yo bad your rental isn't in Sandpoint! That would've been perfect timing!!
You guys have fun on your trip!
Karina!
I hope you get this, I don't know how else to get a hold of you... I lost your email address since I change email accounts.
Thanks so much for calling!! I was about to call you back and Chad said, Let me call verizon and see how much it will be... well it costs 1.50 per minute to call you!! LAME! So, I'm writing instead. I must say, I LOVE how you talk! You sound so much more Aussie then what I remember! LOVE IT!!
Anyways, thanks so much for letting me know about that rental, we found one just yesterday, but if it falls through I have your friends name and number written down.
It's so nice to hear that people are praying for our family from across the world, not that it matters to God where you pray from, but for some reason it seems more powerful?! I guess it's a dumb human thought huh??
Thanks again!
